Started in 1974, Camden Lock Village is a market place full of shops ranging from fashion to jewelry to health services to furniture. The busiest area is the Main Street which is bursting with food and market stalls that starts opening at 10 in the morning. The Camden Stables Market is the best place for you to start if you are in search for fashion and clothing items. Many theaters, clubs and restaurants are open until midnight, and so the fun continues on until early in the morning.

On Wednesday 4th August Stables Market, Camden echoed with the tribal sounds of South African drums as host of celebrities joined together to mark the grand opening of Shaka Zulu Restaurant, Bar and Lounge
The guests enjoyed a Royal Gala evening in the presence of His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini and Her Majesty Queen Mantfombi who were flown all the way over from South Africa in honor of this momentous occasion.
On his arrival, HRH addressed the diners by saying “Ladies and gentleman, I am honored to be here with you today and I hope this marks the beginning of a strong relationship between the Zulu nation and the United Kingdom.”
Shaka Zulu are proud to be working closely with King Goodwill Zwelithini
and Queen Mantfombi, the rulers of the Zulu nation. The 840 seater
restaurant has pledged £1 for every meal to ‘Education Africa’. This charity
does fantastic work with the poorest of Africa’s children, helping to provide
schooling, healthcare, and health education. Many of the Zulu Nation benefit
from this charities activity.
Both Zulu’s and celebrities came together as some of the countries hottest stars including Amy Winehouse, Reg Traviss and Sophie Anderton came together to celebrate the 27,000 sq ft venue, set to be the pinnacle of London’s cosmopolitan scene.
The scale of Shaka Zulu was designed especially to reflect the heritage of the great African King. A number of wooden carved murals cover every inch of the walls and ceiling alongside an impressive water garden feature with delicate gold-painted tiles and a Swarovski crystal leopard centerpiece.
Former pop starlet Liz McClarnon, commented “ It’s hard to believe that we’re still in London, it feel like were deep in the heart of South Africa.”
Diners enjoyed the excellent cooking of Executive Chef Barry Vera who had been tempted away from the shores of Cape Town to be involved with the project. Seared Ostrich, Marinated Springbok and the Shaka Zulu speciality, ‘KarooLamb’ were just some of the traditional South African dishes that were served from the world class kitchen.
Once the formal dinner had finished, the wine begun to flow and the exclusive Kings Club located on the lower mezzanine was quickly transformed into a sea of dancing people.
